Julie Cangialosi - 1st Runner-Up
1.If you were famous what would your stage name be?
We traveled to Peru for our 3rd date and trekked the Salkantay Trail. It was supposed to be “dry” season – but we were unexpectedly trekking in a blizzard. I wore mascara that morning to still look “cute” but by the end of the day, I ended up looking like Gene Simmons from KISS (Google this if you are too young!).
2.If you would attend a celebrity wedding which, would it be?
Growing up I spent hours baking with my grandma. Instead of traditional measuring cups she used a tea cup, which is slightly smaller. All our secret family recipes are based around it, and I still use it every time I bake.
Every day I leave inspiring messages in my children’s lunchboxes. This tradition has now expanded and they leave me notes on the chalkboard. I love coming home to their sweet messages - such a blessing!
3.What is the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?
That we only have two children. However, we have 4 – two of whom are angels in heaven, Charlie and Lena. We honor all babies lost by miscarriage, still birth and early infant loss through our 501c non-profit, Operation Little Angel 101. Charlie and Lena’s legacy lives on with every cuddle box delivered to 36 states in the US and 7 countries internationally!
4.What is the most random fact you know?
For the last decade I have been a voice for the pregnancy and infant loss community, working alongside several organizations including RESOLVE. This past year, I was called to testify first for the largest stillbirth tax credit in history in Connecticut, setting a tone for the hearing. With the entire team willing to share their personal experiences, HB 5103 passed, helping countless families each year.
5.What is the one thing you’ll never do again?
I have never let fear stop me from trying anything. Where there is no risk, there is no reward. I hope to show my own children that nothing should ever stop you from chasing your dreams. I have written several books, testified in front of lawmakers, and survived infant loss not once, but twice. So, fear is not really in my vocabulary! Bring on the next adventure - perhaps the job of Mrs. International?
